Solan district of Himachal Pradesh derived its name from Mata Shoolini Devi. It is strongly believed that she largely saved Solan from been destroyed in ancient times. The district headquarter is dotted with many budgets and luxury lodges and hotels that perfectly caters to the needs and requirements of domestic and foreign tourists with a lot of perfection. This place is known for its beautiful hills and valley. There are many stunning scenic destinations and spots that make the tourists and vacationers enjoy their holidays with joy and thrill. This place can be reached by road and rail. There are many must-visit places in this particular district.



Places of interest
In Solan, there are only a few places of interest. They are Jawahar Park and children’s park on Mall Road that caters to the recreational and picnic spot for the domestic and foreign tourists and vacationers.The popular temples of this district are Jatoli mandir on Ramgarh road and Mata Shoolini Devi temple near the Kandahar bazaar.Mohan Meakin Breweries on top of a hill is one of the oldest distilleries in the world and the oldest distillery in India.It is to be remembered that the Toy train passes from Solan on Kalka-Shimla Route. It is to be highly noted that it is a heritage route and train. The view of scenic spots of Solan from the train is really stunning.


Parwanoo is the premier Industrial township of Himachal Pradesh. It is located on the Kalka-Shimla highway at the base of the Shivalik hills. This particular place has a large number of medium and small scale industries. This place is regarded as the gateway to Himachal Pradesh through Kalka directly touching the boundaries of the state of Haryana,
Kasauli is at an altitude of 2,107 meters and nearly 77 km. from Kalka. On the other hand, Kasauli is a quiet and charming place for perfect relaxation with family members, relatives, and friends. You can find old fashioned shops, easy and beautiful paths and English Cottages rightly set in stunning gardens spilling with colorful flowers. This particular town largely seems frozen in time.
In Subathu, there is an old Gurkha fort that belongs to the early years of the 19th century.
Barog is just 5 km. from Solan and nearly 37 km. from Kalka. It is a beautiful place. It is well surrounded by dense Pine forests. It is a little holiday destination in itself with a lot of perfection.
